School Director

Desmond Anokuru is a visionary music educator and choral director. As the Director of Watchman Music Center (WMC) and Manager of Dessybel Education—an international music education company—he is committed to raising a new generation of musicians who are both technically excellent and spiritually grounded.

Desmond holds formal music qualifications , with distinctions in both performance, pedagogy and theory. He majored in Kodály Music Education, receiving advanced training from the British Kodály Academy (BKA), London, and the National Youth Choir of Scotland (NYCoS). He is also an active member of the Kodály Society of South Africa, championing the Kodály philosophy of music learning through singing, musicianship, and aural development across the African continent. Desmond is a certified member of American Group for Managing Educational Projects - AGMEP, United States. Desmond is also a music technologist and audio engineer having received Advanced Certificate Training from SAE College , Dubai.

In addition to his work in Nigeria, Desmond served as a General Music Teacher for KS2 and KS3 at Al Diyafah High School, Dubai, General music teacher and PoP Choir director at The Bloomington Academy, Ajman,United `Arab Emirate, where he brought global music education practices to life in the classroom and engaged students of diverse cultural backgrounds. He was a judge in the famous YTMC music competition in Dubai.

As a pioneer in digital music education in Nigeria, he established WMC as the country's first fully online music school, featuring a state-of-the-art learning portal for live virtual classes, assignment submissions, performance assessments, and progress tracking. Under his leadership, the academy became a certified Trinity Digital Exam Center, empowering students to earn international music qualifications from Trinity College London—right from their homes.

Through Dessybel Education, Desmond also provides curriculum design, teacher training, digital music resources, and international music program development to institutions and across Africa and beyond.

A seasoned choir director, he has hosted numerous music conferences, choral festivals, vocal workshops, and collaborative concerts, continually mentoring students and leaders in music. His leadership is marked by excellence, and innovation.
